DESCRIPTION
FRUSAZONE-4 is a combination flusher and electrolyte powder containing furosemide (a potent loop diuretic) along with a balanced blend of electrolytes and minerals. This formulation is specifically designed to aid in the elimination of urates and toxins from the body, particularly for conditions involving kidney dysfunction, gout, and urolithiasis in poultry .
Furosemide is a sulfonamide-derived loop diuretic that acts on the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium, chloride, and water. The electrolyte combination helps restore and maintain fluid and electrolyte balance during diuresis .
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Furosemide:
- Acts as a loop diuretic by inhibiting the Na⁺-K⁺-2Cl⁻ symporter (sodium-potassium-chloride cotransporter) in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle
- Increases urinary excretion of water, sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, and magnesium
- Produces a rapid and potent diuretic effect, typically within 1-2 hours after oral administration
- Helps flush out urates and toxins from the kidneys and urinary tract
Electrolyte Components:
- Sodium Chloride and Potassium Chloride: Restore and maintain electrolyte balance lost during diuresis
- Magnesium Sulphate: Supports enzyme function and electrolyte balance
- Manganese Sulphate: Essential trace mineral for bone formation and metabolic processes
- Calcium Carbonate: Provides calcium for bone health and electrolyte balance
INDICATIONS
FRUSAZONE-4 is indicated for use in poultry for the following conditions:
- Visceral Gout - accumulation of urates on visceral organs due to kidney dysfunction
- Articular Gout - urate deposits in joints causing lameness and swelling
- Urolithiasis (Kidney Stones) - helps flush out urate crystals and calculi
- Nephritis and Nephrosis - inflammatory conditions of the kidneys
- Dehydration and Fluid Imbalance - to restore electrolyte balance
- Toxin Elimination - helps flush toxins from the body
- Supportive Therapy - during and after antibiotic treatment to support kidney function
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
FRUSAZONE-4 is administered via drinking water. For optimal results, fresh medicated water should be prepared daily.
Recommended Dosage:
- Poultry (Broilers, Layers, Breeders, Turkeys): 1 g per 2-4 liters of drinking water for 3-5 consecutive days
- Alternative Dosage (body weight): 5-10 mg furosemide per kg body weight per day (equivalent to 0.25-0.5 g of FRUSAZONE-4 per kg body weight)
- Treatment Duration: 3-5 consecutive days. For chronic conditions, may be repeated after a 2-3 day interval
Administration Guidelines:
- Calculate total daily water consumption based on flock size, age, and environmental temperature
- Dissolve the required amount of FRUSAZONE-4 in a small volume of water, then add to the main drinking water tank
- For use in automatic water proportioners, prepare stock solution according to manufacturer specifications
- Prepare fresh medicated water daily; discard any unused solution after 24 hours
- Ensure medicated water is the sole source of drinking water during treatment
- For best results, administer over 4-8 hours; may withhold water for 1-2 hours before treatment to encourage rapid consumption
- Ensure adequate fresh water is available after treatment to maintain hydration
PRECAUTIONS & WARNINGS
- Egg production: Do not use in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption
- Dehydration: Ensure adequate water intake during treatment to prevent dehydration from excessive diuresis
- Electrolyte imbalance: Prolonged use may cause electrolyte imbalances; monitor birds closely
- Renal impairment: Use with caution in animals with pre-existing renal disease; monitor kidney function
- Hypersensitivity: Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to furosemide or sulfonamides
- Drug interactions: Furosemide may potentiate the effects of aminoglycoside antibiotics (gentamicin, neomycin) and increase the risk of nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity
- Keep out of reach of children
- When handling the product, avoid inhalation, oral exposure, and direct contact with skin or eyes
- Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from direct sunlight
- Protect from moisture

ADVERSE REACTIONS
- At recommended doses, the combination is generally well tolerated in poultry
- High doses may cause excessive diuresis leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance
- If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian
