DESCRIPTION
O.X ZONE is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic containing Oxfendazole, a potent benzimidazole compound widely used for the control of internal parasites in livestock [citation:4]. Oxfendazole is the sulfoxide metabolite of fenbendazole and exhibits excellent efficacy against a wide range of gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, and tapeworms [citation:5].
The benzimidazole class of anthelmintics works by binding to β-tubulin in parasitic cells, inhibiting microtubule polymerization. This disruption leads to the destruction of cellular structure and ultimately causes parasite death. Oxfendazole demonstrates preferential concentration in the intestinal cells of parasites, where it exerts its primary toxic effects [citation:5].
Oxfendazole has been extensively studied and is recognized for its high efficacy, broad-spectrum activity, and low toxicity profile when used at recommended doses [citation:9]. Following oral administration, oxfendazole undergoes reversible metabolism in the rumen, with both the parent compound and its metabolites exhibiting anthelmintic activity [citation:4][citation:5].
INDICATIONS
O.X ZONE is indicated for the treatment and control of the following parasites in livestock:
Gastrointestinal Roundworms (Adults and Larvae):
- Ostertagia spp. (including inhibited larvae) [citation:5]

- Nematodirus spp. (including N. battus) [citation:6]
- Oesophagostomum spp. (nodule worm) [citation:5][citation:6]
- Chabertia spp. [citation:6]
- Bunostomum spp. (hookworm) [citation:5]
- Strongyloides spp. [citation:5]
Lungworms:
- Dictyocaulus spp. (lungworm) [citation:5][citation:6]
Tapeworms:
- Moniezia spp. [citation:6][citation:8]
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
For oral administration only. Shake well before use. Use a properly calibrated drenching gun for accurate dosing. The body weight of animals should be determined as accurately as possible to ensure proper dosage [citation:5].
Recommended Dosage:
- Cattle: 1 ml per 8 kg body weight (equivalent to 2.83 mg oxfendazole per kg) [citation:1]
- Sheep & Goats: 1 ml per 5 kg body weight (equivalent to 4.53 mg oxfendazole per kg) [citation:1][citation:6]
- Horses: 10 ml per 22 kg body weight [citation:1]
Dosing Guidelines:
- For cattle weighing more than 640 kg, administer 1 ml per 8 kg body weight [citation:1]
- For sheep weighing more than 60 kg, administer 1 ml per 5 kg body weight [citation:1]
- For severe infections or where inhibited larvae are suspected, veterinary advice should be sought for potential dose adjustment
WITHDRAWAL PERIODS
