DESCRIPTION
ALBENDAZOLE is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic oral suspension containing Albendazole, a potent benzimidazole compound, combined with the essential trace elements Cobalt and Selenium. This formulation is designed for comprehensive parasite control while simultaneously addressing trace mineral deficiencies in livestock .
Albendazole Mechanism of Action: Albendazole belongs to the benzimidazole class of anthelmintics . It acts by binding to β-tubulin in the intestinal cells of susceptible parasites, inhibiting microtubule polymerization . This disruption prevents nutrient absorption by the parasite, leading to depletion of glycogen stores and energy (ATP) production, ultimately causing starvation and death . Additionally, albendazole inhibits the fumarate reductase enzyme system, further impairing energy metabolism in helminths . Structural differences between mammalian and helminth tubulin ensure preferential toxicity to parasites with minimal effects on the host .
Cobalt and Selenium: Cobalt is a key component of vitamin B12 and is essential for normal rumen function, energy metabolism, and red blood cell production . Selenium is a vital antioxidant that works synergistically with vitamin E, supporting immune function, fertility, and muscle development . These trace elements are included as nutritional supplements to address deficiencies commonly encountered in grazing livestock .
This product is ovicidal, meaning it kills fluke and roundworm eggs, thereby reducing pasture contamination and breaking the parasite life cycle .
