Lincomycin hydrochloride soluble powder 40% for poultry. Contains 400 mg/g lincomycin for control of necrotic enteritis caused by Clostridium perfringens in broiler chickens.
Product Name: LINKZONE-40
Type: Oral Water-Soluble Powder - Lincosamide Antibiotic
COMPOSITION
Each gram contains:
- Lincomycin USP (as Lincomycin hydrochloride) ...... 400 mg
DESCRIPTION
LINKZONE-40 is a water-soluble antibiotic powder containing lincomycin hydrochloride, a lincosamide antibiotic with potent activity against gram-positive bacteria and anaerobic pathogens. Lincomycin exerts its bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit [citation:2].
This product is specifically formulated for administration via drinking water in broiler chickens for the control of necrotic enteritis, a severe intestinal disease caused by Clostridium perfringens [citation:2][citation:7].
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Lincomycin acts by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds specifically to the 50S ribosomal subunit, interfering with the peptidyl transferase reaction and preventing peptide bond formation. This inhibition disrupts the production of essential proteins required for bacterial growth and replication [citation:2].
INDICATIONS
LINKZONE-40 is indicated for the control and treatment of necrotic enteritis in broiler chickens caused by Clostridium perfringens susceptible to lincomycin [citation:2][citation:3][citation:7].
Target Pathogens:
- Clostridium perfringens - causative agent of necrotic enteritis
- Other susceptible Clostridium spp. - involved in enteric infections [citation:5]
Disease Conditions:
- Necrotic Enteritis - characterized by intestinal necrosis, diarrhea, reduced feed intake, and increased mortality in broiler flocks
- Treatment should begin as soon as diagnosis of necrotic enteritis is confirmed [citation:2][citation:7]
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
LINKZONE-40 is administered via drinking water. For optimal results, fresh medicated water should be prepared daily.
Recommended Dosage:
- Broiler Chickens: 64 mg lincomycin per gallon of drinking water (approximately 16 mg per liter) [citation:2][citation:8]
- Calculation: Each gram of LINKZONE-40 (400 mg lincomycin) medicates approximately 25 liters of drinking water at the recommended concentration
- Treatment Duration: 7 consecutive days [citation:2][citation:3][citation:8]
Alternative Dosage Based on Body Weight:
- 3-6 mg lincomycin per kg body weight per day for chickens [citation:4]
- Equivalent to 7.5-15 g of LINKZONE-40 per 1000 kg body weight per day
Administration Guidelines:
- Start medication as soon as the diagnosis of necrotic enteritis is confirmed [citation:2][citation:7]
- Prepare fresh medicated water daily; discard any unused solution after 2 days [citation:2][citation:3]
- Ensure medicated water is the sole source of drinking water during treatment
- If improvement is not noted within 24-48 hours, consult a veterinarian for re-evaluation of diagnosis [citation:7]
- For use in automatic water proportioners, prepare stock solution according to manufacturer specifications
- After water medication is discontinued, a control program may be followed by feeding lincomycin premix at 2 grams per ton of complete feed [citation:2]
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
- Meat (Broiler Chickens): Zero days - no withdrawal period required when used at the approved concentration of 64 mg per gallon of drinking water [citation:2][citation:3][citation:8]
- Eggs: Not for use in laying hens or breeder chickens producing eggs for human consumption [citation:2][citation:5]
CONTRAINDICATIONS & PRECAUTIONS
- Species restrictions: Not for use in layer chickens, breeder chickens, or turkeys [citation:2][citation:5]
- Sensitive species: Do not allow rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses, or ruminants access to water containing lincomycin. Ingestion by these species may result in severe gastrointestinal effects [citation:2][citation:3][citation:5]
- Drug interactions: Do not use the water treatment and the feed treatment simultaneously [citation:2][citation:7]
- Hypersensitivity: Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to lincomycin or other lincosamide antibiotics
- Resistance: To reduce the development of antimicrobial resistance and maintain effectiveness, use this antibiotic prudently [citation:3][citation:4]
- Keep out of reach of children
- Store in a dry place between 15-30°C (59-86°F) [citation:3][citation:7]
- Protect from direct sunlight and moisture
- Use within 28 days after first opening
ADVERSE REACTIONS
- At recommended doses, lincomycin is generally well tolerated in broiler chickens
- No adverse reactions specific to poultry are commonly reported at therapeutic doses
- If adverse reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian
RESPONSIBLE USE
- Use only for the treatment of confirmed necrotic enteritis caused by lincomycin-susceptible Clostridium perfringens
- Veterinary consultation and susceptibility testing are recommended where available
- Adhere strictly to recommended dosages and treatment durations; avoid subtherapeutic dosing
- Do not use for disease prevention or growth promotion
Target Species: Broiler Chickens (Not for use in layers or breeders)
